Since being in Penang, our team has chosen to take advantage of PenHOP (Penang House of Prayer).  This usually includes four hours of worship, prayer, and community.  A couple days ago, we decided to take full advantage of the time and chose to stay the entire four hours.

After about three hours had passed of intense prayer and worship, the staff began doing Rapid Fire prayer.  If we felt led, we were to pray for the Dry Bones in Malaysia over the microphone.  Before beginning, the staff member said, “World Racers, if you could come up and pray that would be great.”

So I got in line to pray, having no idea what to pray for.

I have been here for about 3 weeks, but that is very little time to really know a place.  I’ve seen all the temples, I’ve seen the way people treat the homeless like they’re invisible, but I haven’t seen anything that someone living here their whole lives wouldn’t.

As I stood in line, I prayed for God to intercede for what He wanted Malaysia to have.

And then it was my turn.

So I did what others usually tell you not to do and started speaking without thinking about what I was going to say.  And I prayed over the microphone for God to end the drought in Malaysia.  I prayed for God to quench the thirst these people were all feeling and to bring the rain.

It seemed slightly vague to me, but it was a prayer for the dry bones of Malaysia, so I walked back to my seat and continued with my prayer and worship.

What I learned later, from one of the staff members, is that this used to be Malaysia’s rainy season, but it has turned into their dry season.  They haven’t seen actual rain in months.  They very much need rain.  God heard their prayers and even put it on my own heart to pray for it, too.

And then it rained.

And rain is in the forecast everyday this upcoming week.

God is still performing miracles.  He is still answering the prayers of His people, in a very physical way.  He is still listening and He is still interceding.

We just have to remember to ask Him, which is fitting since our ministry this month is “Ask the Lord.”

“And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” – 1 John 5:14-15

Financial Update:  I am blown away by everyone’s kindness and generosity! I am now only $3,100 away from being fully funded!  Since my last deadline has already passed, I really need everyone’s prayer and support in order to stay on the Race.
