Welcome Home!
I sit in a back of a truck open to the elements.
What I see is the same from two years ago.
Naked children among the foul smelling trash
Tents made out of tape and tarp for shelter
Concrete scattered around the feet of children
I look to the stars for some kind of answer
Before I can get overwhelmed,
God speaks to my soul.
Welcome Home!
He steady’s my heart as I stand up in the truck and look deeper among the people of Haiti
Dark black bell* faces look back at me
Precious people loved by the Father just like you and I
Worthy people living among darkness
People who are desperate for the love of Jesus Christ
I settle in the small beach town of Grand Goave
God paints pictures every night in the sky
They take my breath away
Construction of a school and church is the mission at hand.
I push myself as hard as I can, with God by my side cheering me on
My heart is filled with joyfulness and gratefulness for God bringing me here.
I relearn the simple things about God
He loves me as he loves you
He knows more about me, than I do myself.
He knows that Haiti bring me overwhelming joy and peace, and I don’t even understand it yet.
He whispers welcome home!
