Let me tell you about a boy named Daniel
Daniel is an 11-year-old child who my team and I have come to love and look forward to seeing his beautiful face everyday. We first met Daniel and our contact, Pastor Thomas’s mother in laws house. Right now Daniel has an infection in his lungs and when he eats he cannot keep anything in his stomach, so he is being fed through a tube through his nose. This in just one of many medical problems Daniel has to face daily. When Daniel’s mother was pregnant with him, she tried to have an abortion. The abortion failed and Daniel survived. As a result of the abortion attempt, Daniel has a severe form of autism, and many medical complications. Doctors said he would not be able to walk ever. Well I can say he stood up in his hospital bed last night and hugged me goodbye. This sweet child has gone beyond what the doctors had expected. Last night my teammate Lauren did music therapy with him, and he absolutely loved it. Daniel has brought so much joy to my life and he has taught me to just be happy in the moment. The simple things we seem to just forget everyday, and Daniel reminds you that they are just as important if not more important than the big things in life. The strongest women, our Pastor Thomas’s mother-in-law, adopted Daniel. She was a friend of Daniels biological mother and opened her heart and home to this beautiful child of God. I am so blessed to meet this family and get the opportunity to live life with them for the next month.
In the evenings my team and I go to the hospital here in town and meet people and ask them if they would like prayer. Some say yes, and some say no. We found the children’s ward and we like to go and play with all the kids. My whole team is drawn to this part of the hospital like a kid in a candy store. Getting the opportunity to pray for these children and get to see their smiles and hear their laughs is the best part of the day. Daniel is also in this ward, he has been there for about three days while they fix his feeding tube. Please pray that his infection clears up and he can eat normal food. Also please pray for his adopted mother, she is under a great deal of stress and worry. Please pray that God gives her peace, and that she is able to rest in the promises God gives us. Thank you for all of your prayers! Stay tune….I will try to get picture. It takes forever for them to upload to this site.
