Oh boy where do I begin? These four days of my life were the longest ever!
If you are going on the race or even thinking about going on the race you might experience this at some point in your race. Good Luck!
Oct. 31st– Leave from Port-au-Prince, Haiti 8am arrive at bus station 9am for a bus to leave at 10am-bus doesn’t come until 2pm in the afternoon.
2pm leave Port-au-Prince for Santo Domingo Airport -7 hour ride plus extra time we have to stop for mechanical problems and immigration crossing the boarder.
Arrive in Santo Domingo 11:30ish and sleep in airport until 4:00am to catch our flight to Miami at 6am.
Nov 1st -Flight leaving for Miami delayed slightly suppose to arrive in Miami at 8:30amish got there at 9:30amish which left us about an hour for 60 people to get off the plane get their checked luggage and go through immigration and security before catching our flight to LAX at 10:30am on the opposite side of the Miami airport. Thank goodness for the staff at the airport they helped us run and directed right through security quickly and for holding the plane for us so that we all made our flight. 6-hour flight to LAX with time difference to factor in we arrived in LAX at 1pm and then had a 12-hour layover leaving at 1am for Hong Kong.
Nov. 2nd 1am 14-hour flight to Hong Kong, we are all barely functioning at this point.
Not quite sure the date when we arrive in Hong Kong because of time difference. J
1 hour layover in Hong Kong then 3 hour flight to Bangkok, Thailand. (Slept most of that one)
Arrive in Bangkok head through immigration, and then we got our luggage waited for ride to bus station. Finally got to bus station 4:30ish that day (not sure what day that was) and the next bus didn’t leave until 8pm for Chaing Mai (10 hour ride)
I have to say the bus ride was the best part, the seats reclined and I slept 9 out of the 10 hours we were on the bus. They gave us food and drink and we had air conditioning.
Finally made it to Chaing Mai 6am I believe the 4th of Nov. It was a crazy couple of days, but it wasn’t as bad as I anticipated it would have been. The time difference is exactly 12 hours from the east coast. It was difficult to get used to the time difference. We have been here a week and I am just getting used to it.
Up next..what the heck am I doing in Thailand!!!
