I’m just going to give a couple excerpts from my journal for this installment of Worship Wednesday. I just wanna highlight how perfectly loving and perfectly genius and perfectly fair God is and how learning more about God only makes one want to get to know Him more!!

From journal entry dated 3/23/14 @ 7:35am(Cali time)

“I read Matthew 25. It’s soooo good and it has one of my favorite parables in it, the parable of the 10 bridesmaids.  It also has the parable of the 3 servants. I’ll write about the verses that spoke to me.

  • verse 15: He gave 5 bags of silver to one, 2 to another and 1 bag of silver to the last–dividing it in proportion to their abilities.

I underlined that last part because it really jumped out at me.  He gave in proportion to their abilities.  So, 1.) He knows what we’re able to handle and gives to us accordingly(in times of want and in times of plenty) and 2.) He gives everybody something.  Everyone, regardless of strengths, abilities, gifts, etc. gets something.  God gives all of us something we can do to directly affect the Kingdom.  He doesn’t ration things for the “haves and the have-nots”, the “talented and the talentless” or the “good and the bad”.  He gives to ALL and although He doesn’t give equally, He does give fairly.  Some people may get the 5 bags of silver while others get 1; but everyone gets something.  And it’s up to us to use it and use it rightly to honor God and expand His Kingdom.

I also like how it’s not differentiated between people like, “Oh, well you have only 1 thing so you’re not held accountable like the guy who has 8 things”. God sees all of us (and the work He’s given us to do) as important–He has NO favorites!(Romans 2:11) That’s good….

  • verse 40: “I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these, my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!”

I’m not sure how this verse didn’t make it on my list of verses that pierce my heart for missions, but it’ll have an honorary spot.  I love this verse because of its simplicity: when I serve the needy and love the unloved, I’m serving and loving Jesus. Period. There’s nothing really confusing about that.  And I’m not even so sure that it’s “easier said than done”…. it’s just a matter of awareness and lazinesss! I gotta be thinking ‘Am I aware of those around me who are in need? And if so, am I actually doing something to help them or am I ignoring them?  Am I investing and using what God has given me, or am I burying it underneath excuses?’

Aren’t you glad we have a God who has no favorites and who allows us to serve him directly just by loving one another?!
