At our month 4 debrief, we all knew team changes were coming. It’s just another part of the race that we’ve come to expect: change. Change is inevitable on the race. Teams get changed so that we’re never too comfortable, never too confident, never done seeking God in all situations and in all relationships.

My new team is only a few days old, but I feel like I can already say it’s gonna be great. We’ll be together for at least the next 3 months and I’m looking forward to it.

Ok, without further ado, I introduce to you:

TEAM ALABANZA

The world alabanza is a Spanish word that means worship or praise. We chose it as our team name because our first outing as a team was to a very cool cafe that had a courtyard in the back. We planned to have some quality ‘get-to-know-ya time’ in the tree house that’s in the cafe’s courtyard(and in the photo above). The owner of the cafe stopped us before we left and told us that as soon as we walked in, she felt the presence of the Lord and knew that we were children of God.

She went on to explain how one of her favorite verses is Psalm 100:4 which states, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name.” She had a beautiful piece of art with the words of this verse painted on it. She said that’s just how we entered her cafe: with the joyful, thankful, spirit of God. The word ‘Alabanza’ stood out to us and as we later brainstormed a team name, and we agreed that it fit us perfectly. We want to be a team that is constantly praising and worshiping God and drawing others to want to do the same thing!
