When my team was in Cambodia, and after a month long of getting to know the people, we discovered that the women found their beauty in their hair. For all women being beautiful was to have long hair. My team did not want to promote the beauty that is just a shell that covers us. God made us all beautiful no matter if we have long, short, or no hair at all because God tells us that our beauty is on the inside.
1 Samuel 16:17 “But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look on his appearance or on his height of his stature…For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance but the lord looks on the heart.”
Song of Solomon 4:7 “You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you.”
So my team took God’s words literally and cut all of our long hair to show the women/girls that you can stop looking for approval from others because God calls us all already beautiful. True beauty does not come from the outward appearance but who we are on the inside. Our character makes us beautiful. God makes us beautiful.
