God is faithful. When he calls us to do something, He will provide in more ways than you think. A truth that I will continue to be reminded of as the days go by.
In Exodus chapter 3, Moses encounters God, “There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.” So Moses goes over and checks it out and the Lord starts speaking to him. God says to Moses that he’s seen the oppression that His people have gone through, and wants to help get them out of slavery. So God basically says “ I want to use you, Moses, to lead them out of slavery, so go and do it. When I read what Moses responds with, he’s like “woah, backup, you want to use ME??? Who am I?? I have nothing that makes me capable of leading a bunch of people out of slavery” and there he begins to make excuses:
1. I am no one, I cannot possibly do this
2. What am I supposed to say?? What am I supposed to do??
3. What if they don’t believe me? Then what?
4. I am not equipped to do what you’re asking of me.
God gives an answer to every one of his excuses, showing Moses that it will not be Moses doing it, but God will be with him every step of the way.
This is a reminder to me that being called to do something by God will never be on your own strength. God doesn’t call us to go into anything alone, but to depend on Him, and we will be able to do anything. God has equipped us all to do more than we could ever imagine, but if we go at this by our own strength, it won’t be possible. God used this story to show me that I will not be alone in going to Thailand, India and Guatemala to share the love of Jesus with the people there. On my own, I know I could never do it. And I’m just like Moses, giving God excuses for why I’m not good enough, but God listens and says, “I will be with you,” just like he said thousands of years ago to Moses.
