Hello everyone!
First of all, I need to confess that I have been procrastinating writing this blog for way too long (training camp was over a month ago…). I’ll be the first to admit that blogging is not my thing, so hopefully it will just be one of the many areas that I grow in over the next nine months. Now back to the purpose of this blog: training camp. To be very blunt, training camp was terrible. Now if you happen to be a future racer or a concerned relative of a racer don’t let it freak you out. Training camp was hard, you meet up at an airport with 50 people you don’t know, take an hour bus ride to adventures’ campus, and then you are assigned your team who are the people you’ll be living with for the next nine months… and that’s only the first day! I won’t go into details and bore you with a run through of every day, but I will tell you that training camp is exhausting physically, mentally, and spiritually. Physically, it is exhausting because you’re sleeping in a tent and waking up at the crack of dawn and then you’re sweating and hot all day and you don’t go to bed until around 11. Mentally, it is exhausting because in addition to the fact that you’re already tired, you are also being given information all day about how to be a racer, while also trying to get to know your squad mates. Last but certainly not least, training camp is spiritually exhausting. I won’t lie, there were many times during training camp where I felt the attack of the enemy, telling me I was alone, that I shouldn’t go, and how easy it would be for me to stay home and go to college. However, through the attacks and the lies the Lord was with me, and He gave me truth and strength to push through. Overall, I can honestly tell you that the best part of training camp is the day you leave. Not because you get to go home, but because you leave knowing that the Race is what you’re supposed to do. You leave prepared to share the word and love of God, and you’re proud to do so.
Thank you all for reading my blog and for all of the prayers and support! May the Lord bless and keep you all!
Sincerely,
Molly E. McCrary
