So, let’s catch you up on what ministry has looked like this month. My team has been working with BEAM Africa, which is a program that teaches life skills to unemployed people and puts them in jobs so they gain experience and learn how to manage on their own. They also had a program that taught kids how to read and write as well as provided lunch. Our hosts, Louie and Erika have opened up their home, their programs, and their arms to us. They have been so welcoming and encouraging, as well as given us grace and love. (They also have 4 dogs we got to play with everyday)

But, on the other hand, that’s not what we have been doing this month. Devon, Erica, and I have helped with some of the administration things and files with the life skills program but, for the most part, we have been preparing the buildings and grounds for our parents!
We broke down old brick walls & rebuilt those walls, scratched old paint off bathroom walls & repainted those walls, we have cut down and moved trees, put up more lights, taken old doors down and put in new ones, then stained those doors. We have moved bricks and hammered nails, put up new gutters and swept, mopped, and wiped down bathrooms. Most recently, the boys have built new roofs and the girls have made beds, assigned parents to those beds, created door tags, and made little notes and name cards for each bed and each parent.
We could not be more excited to have our parents coming to South Africa, most of them are already on planes and making their way to us. Tomorrow is basically Christmas Eve. We will either fall right asleep with the anticipation of Sunday, or we will be too anxious and excited to fall asleep without some z-quill. Either way, Santa is coming to Pretoria, South Africa and 25 racers will get the best Christmas present of all!
