3/1/11
Dear WFMZ, 69 news and The Morning Call News Paper,
Hello, my name is Molly Tkacik, and I’m 21 years old. I live
in Coopersburg, Pa. I attend St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Quakertown, PA. I have been a member since I was a baby, and have been a Sunday
school teacher in the past for three years. I’m in college taking pre-nursing
classes, so I can eventually earn my RN degree. I am a certified nursing
assistant at Phoebe nursing home in Richland, Pa. In the summer I was going thru
a very hard time. I lost my aunt who I was close with to cancer, and other
things in my life kept going wrong. In August I was on Facebook just playing on
Farmville, when out of nowhere this website https://www.adventures.org/ just popped up.
I know I did not click on it, but it just showed up. I started to read the
website and landed on “The World Race”. The more I read the more I was inspired
to be a part of it. At the end of August I applied to the July 2011 squad 1
mission trip. Now I was unsure I was going to get in the program, due to having
a stuttering problem. They were very friendly and told me God’s people are
special in their own ways. I was accepted to be part of the squad on September
6, 2010. I was so happy, and on a spiritual high. I knew this is what God
wanted me to do. I prayed very hard and long about it, and his response was yes
every time. My greatest desire is to share the
gospel with people my age, and to learn how they worship God in their own ways.
I have a real love for people and for those who desire their faith in Christ to
grow, which is why I want to participate in missionary work around the world.
God has been doing great things in my life, and He has presented me with an
opportunity to serve in his name.
I am very excited that I have been accepted to be part of
the July 2011 World Race mission trip! The world race mission is an 11-month
trip, where seven men and women travel to 11 different countries spreading the
word of God, helping people in need, spiritually and physically. The website is
http://www.theworldrace.org/. I will be working to help building churches or re- build churches, evangelizing door-to-door,
caring for the homeless,
teaching English in Schools,
and in the community, to the young and the old, ministering through prayer,
preaching the gospel in the streets,
living with Gypsies, comforting Orphans, Reaching out to prostitutes who where once free but now live a life of
fear, feeding the hungry. I will be
leaving on July 1, 2011 and will be traveling to Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, South
Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland, Eastern Europe ( two countries but don’t know
what two yet), Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam. During this trip, I will be
trained in various areas of ministry. I will also have the opportunity to
minister to people who need to hear of salvation through Jesus. I thank God for
this opportunity and trust He will meet my needs. This mission trip will be a
tremendous spiritual and educational growth opportunity, one I want to take
advantage of while I’m young. I will not be staying in any hotels or anything
like that. I will be traveling with only a hiking pack and a small back pack
with everything I need for 11 months. I will be living in a tent as my bed and
any transportation we can find as my car. I am willing to give all that up to
help those who are less fortune net and to spread the world.
I would be honored if you could help
me put the word out on my upcoming mission trip. I must raise $15,500 for the
year. That may be a lot to raise for some but I am determined to raise the full
amount before I leave in July. So my main focus can be on the people I can
help, while in the field. This will cover all my expenses while in the field;
which includes airfare, transportation, food, board, and other items we may
need while in the field. I have so far raised $6,668.40. I have sent out 80
support letters to family and friends, and 150 letters to local Lutheran
churches in the area. I have also sent out 80 letters to local Catholic
churches as well. Sadly I have been turned down many times. I understand with
the economy and all, but I had to take a chance and send them anyway. I have
done candle sales and candy sales. It makes me so happy when I get donations
from other churches willing to help me, which have been three of the total 230 letters
sent. I know God will provide in guiding me on the best ways to raise funds. I
would very much appreciate your help and thank you for time.
Thank you, and God Bless,
Molly Tkacik
