A year ago today it was said that the world would end.
A year ago today I decided to take the first step into an 11 month mission trip that would take me to 11 different countries.
A year ago today I arrived at Training Camp for The World Race
Last year at this time I has so many questions and so eager to get to know the rest of my future squad. On May 21, 2011 was the beginning of a world wind journey starting off with a 9 day training camp. With three days of worship/meetings three times a day to break you down and build you back up in all the right places. Eating on a budget which means not a lot of food, because living on a $3 budget a day in America is very hard, but manageable.
We had been giving a different sleeping situation every night. The second night was sharing a tent with someone else because the “airline lost your bags”, this taught a lot of us to get out of our comfort zones and ask for help. The third night was sleeping in a small community of 12 in a big tent, there was an odd number so I slept with the four married couples and Cristy the other squad leader. The fourth night was sleeping in a make sift tent made out of two tarps and rope there were 8-9 of us girls sleeping under it. I have to say it was mighty comfortable. The fifth night was sleeping in big community of 56 men and women, where all of us shared a big pavilion; the funny part was the squad leaders rigged a speaker to play loud African tribe calls, chickens, and other sounds to get us used to random noises. The sixth night we got to have a cabin with beds and real shelter, this was a blessing because it rained very hard that night. After the sixth night we finally had a place to call home for the rest of the days at camp.

Each day was also a different cultural days in which we ate different cultural foods and were taught a little about each culture . There was South American day, Asia day, Africa day, Eastern Europe day, and India day.
Camp was the start of it all. From 24 + hours from Albania to Romania, or the 2 days from Peru to Santa Cruz, Bolivia training camp was the start of a great adventure.

Packing up every morning to move to a different place. Africa day the women had to eat on the floor.

My first team, "Team Qodesh". Squad wars, oh yea "We won"!
“Dub” squad has been my family away from home, and it all started at training camp! I will always remember my teams (Qodesh, Living Liberation, and Red Light Freedom) and all my squad mates. It has been one heck of a year!
