Woke up 4am, packed later back down with just my pillow and blanket, freezing asked God please send me someone to cuddle with, I know everyone’s sleeping but I’m freezing, soon enough Shelby and shania are on both sides of me and I’m warm. After breakfast we get ready to leave turns out our truck driver hurt himself so we have to walk down the ‘hill’ (side note the moon is absolutely gorgeous RN) this hill is straight up and down, all faulty rocks I’m in my converse trying not to fall it’s only 6 am Katie falls twice, shania 1 and Shelby 1 I didn’t fall at all. I am the winner. We hike for like an hour my legs are so shaky SO SHAKEY. We get down the ‘hill’ (I would classify it as a steep small mountain) and catch a bus. This bus is janky things keep falling on my head. We’re headed down the mountain it’s so bumpy it’s miserable no room no air. 5 hours later, one lunch stop, and one bus breakdown we made it off this dang hill. We buy fruit holla and wait for the van. Deepak buys us COLD water the air is on I’m eating my Oreos and get this I’m comfortable. We drive and drive the views are absolutely stunning the sunset breath taking. We get to Pokhara and have to go to 9 different atms it’s like 730pm and guess what we drive by a FROYO place praise God. Also I thought I saw a child dressed as a rat but it was just a dog (I might be sleep deprived). We drive like 2 more hours and Deepak decides we can’t trek tonight so we stay at this not clean hostel (to put it nicely). BUT we get spaghetti for dinner real spaghetti its amazing and French fries. We’re exhausted we drag ourselves to bed and try not to think about how gross it is. There’s a fly in our room Katie tries killing it for like 15 min finally kills it and it falls into my ear. I pass out within seconds of the lights going off have a dream I’m falling off a faulty rock and gasp so loudly Katie said she started laughing.

Woke up at 7 how amazing is that. I slept finamonly my stomach is not happy its rumbling like crazy. We ate pancakes for breakfast and started treking. Wow the views are gorgeous. Like so gorgeous. We keep treking and the views are getting better and better. And like God is bigger than that that’s so cool. The trek is nice and smooth to lunch. Lunch place has a PERFECT view of the range. The Himalayas are right in front of me and Gods glory is radiating. It’s crazy perfect. After lunch is when the trek got real. It’s uphill all rock steps, it’s exhausting but the views make it ‘easy’. We finally get to our next hostel at like 3 I’m exhausted our room is amazing super soft bed and blankets! We got tea, sweet warm milk tea Then layed in our beds until dinner. We got the giggles big time BIG TIME. We were laughing at literally nothing, cheetah bird, picture, Shelby, Katie’s line on face. Dinner was MAC AND CHEESE AND HOT CHOCOLATE. I had a horrible bathroom situation, with the squatty and now I’m laying in bed so comfy and ready to sleep.

We woke up early for morning sunrise. What a mistake that was. The hike was straight up and that’s just too much to handle in the early hours of the morning. But God didn’t disappoint the Mountains were beautiful and the fog encompassing the hills was so cool. We started the downhill portion of the trek. It’s intense, miserably intense. I go down hard on the morning dew covered steps. We stop and have tea at a house of an untouchable. I didn’t even know that this was still a thing, but because this guys dad was a welder his family has been out dated by society and can’t associate with them. This calls for a very lonely life. We told him the good news that Jesus came to live and save people like him and is already after his heart. Praying he comes to love Christ. Down hill still downhill. Two hours later still downhill. Three hours after that still downhill. At this point it’s pretty safe to say I won’t be trekking again in my life. But a total of like 8 hours later and we are on a bus to Pokhara! Praise God. It’s beautiful we have beds and great food and great company. AND TV! Katie and I are watching TLC! What is life. We hit the hay hard and early.

Paragliding. ‘nough said.
At the end of this trip I realize I’m most grateful for the relationship that formed between me and my host, Deepak. He shared his passion and love for trekking and Jesus with me and I’m so incredible blessed that God crossed our paths. I miss him.
