A few years ago I was a finalist for a local news station’s bachelor/bachelorette contest; three bachelors and three bachelorettes were chosen. I went down to the news station to have an interview, get my picture taken and hear about the contest. They decided to go with a bachelor instead of a bachelorette. So close to being an “official” bachelorette!

I have lived on my own for the last ten years. As I prepare for the World Race and living, working, and worshipping with the same seven people for eleven months. I realize that this might be one of my hardest tasks. I make all my own decisions with input from Emily, Grandma, Mom and others, but ultimately the decision is mine. I spend my money exactly how I want to. Some days I eat cereal for dinner. Some days I forget to eat dinner. I do a lot of activities by myself. I do a lot of activities with many different people. I talk on the phone a lot. I talk to my pets a lot. And the ultimate bachelorette move, I eat many of my meals right out of the container as I stand over my sink and look out the kitchen window.

Starting in July I will be a part of a team. We will make financial decisions together, grocery shop together, and live together. We will always be in at least a group of two to do any activity. I will not be able to call friends whenever I want to. I will not be able to do activities by myself. And I certainly will not be able to eat out of the team’s container above a kitchen sink.

Please pray for my team of seven; that we get along well, work well together and love each other for who God made us to be. Pray that we bring out the best in each other and that we are all better people for being a part of the same team. Maybe I wasn’t chosen as the Quad Cities Bachelorette because they knew that I am meant to be a part of team.
