This month my team had the incredible opportunity to do something called “Unsung Heroes.”

Normally when we go to each country, Adventures in Missions has already organized our lodging and ministry. We receive set-up sheets about two weeks before we go to a new country, telling us where we will be living and what we will be doing for the next month.

However, for the month of February, my team was dropped in Namibia with no contacts, no ministry host, no lodging, and no plan for the month. Our ministry assignment was to look for new ministry contacts for Adventures in Missions, to connect the organization with new potential hosts for future missions teams.

We were on the hunt for “Unsung Heroes,” which are missionaries, churches, and Christian organizations that could benefit from having mission teams come alongside them in their existing Kingdom ministries.

This month was an exercise in trusting the Lord to direct every step of our path. Our team had just left the bush, where we had no wifi to do any advance planning. We didn’t know what city to start in. We didn’t know where we could possibly stay for our $5/night budget. But we did know that God would provide in big ways!

Take a look at this video I made telling the incredible stories of our first two days!

Allie, my amazingly creative teammate, also put together a fun video from our first week. Take a look!

This month has been a whirlwind—we ended the month by submitting 13 solid contacts to Adventures in Missions.

The Lord pointed us to 1 contact in Northwest Namibia, 3 contacts in Walvis Bay, 4 contacts in Swakopmund, and 5 contacts in Windhoek. These incredible “Unsung Heroes” range from a couple leading discipleship and evangelism in bushmen areas primarily accessible by donkey cart, to Namibia’s Christian radio station, to missionaries from America/Romania/Brazil, to incredibly welcoming churches.

Our team saw God working in so many amazing ways this month, so we kept a record of all of the things we needed to celebrate. My teammate Nicole wrote these out in her blog– take a minute to read this!

I am so grateful for this month, because God reminded me of His constant presence and provision. There was not a single moment this month when we could not see the Lord’s hand over everything our team was doing. He provided the nicest housing I’ve experienced on the race, at either our budget price or completely free. He placed the people we needed to meet directly in our path, without us even putting in much effort. He fueled us at this point in our journey by letting us attend church services in English, where we did not have to be the ones giving the message. He amazed us each day with little coincidences that could only be of Him.

I am also so grateful for a month that allowed me to find joy in work. We do a lot of different types of ministry on the World Race, and not every ministry is something that we feel called to. We do it all because the Lord asks us to, but it is such a gift to have a month when you get to do the things you love. I love administration. I love meetings. I love research. I love meeting people and hearing about their passions. I love exploring. That was this month in Namibia. This month was such a gift.

We are now in Sungai Petani, Malaysia, beginning Month 8 of the World Race! This month we will be preaching, working with special needs children, and putting on children’s programs at the church. Please be praying for Team Covenant as we are in our last month together as a team. Please be praying for extreme wisdom as we are writing sermons and preparing children’s programs. Thanks so much for your continued prayers!!!!
