“I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH JESUS CHRIST WHO GIVES ME STRENGTH.” Philippians 4:13
We can do ALL things – but ONLY if Christ is working through us. So many times, we make commitments, only to feel overwhelmed and working out of obligation by ourselves. Many times we want to have a hand in everything – missions, organizations, friends, family, etc. – only to find ourselves worn out at the end of the day and still worn out in the morning.
Naturally, we want to do everything! We want to have a say! Listen to the verse… “We can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
Thus the times we think we can do all, we need to remember we can only do everything in line with the Spirit… We need to remember to let the Holy Spirit prompt us, call us, and lead us. We, as Christians, still tend to occasionally lead out of our humanly flesh, only to become overwhelmed, tired, worn out, etc. But when we live in the Spirit and do things prompted by the Spirit, we should feel renewed and rejuvenated.
People call us to do all sort of things…it is ok to say “No!” However, when we commit our lives to Christ, he teaches us to let our yes be yes and our no be no. (Matthew 5:37)
However, we simply cannot say “No!” because we do not want to do the task ahead, but rather say “No!” because the Spirit prompts us or we know we cannot complete the task with excellence. God calls us to be servants. If we truly seek the Kingdom of God and continue to commit our lives to Him everyday, He will bless you. But it is not the blessings we seek, it is the desire we have within to do what He ask us and go where He tells us.
