After spending time in Belembu, an old mining town (where Lee Ann has her ministry), I came back to Nisela, a wildlife preserve (where we live in tents next to the lions – yes, we hear them roar all night long!), Aaron shared this story with me…

Pastor Gift, the main pastor we are working hand-in-hand with, and Aaron went to visit houses around the main care point. They went to one house where a mother lay lifeless on a bed with her child on her chest. Due to being sick for some time, she is unable to produce milk, therefore the child is not getting any nourishment. Baby Peace is 1 month old, yet ways only 4.8 pounds. Pastor Gift and Aaron prayed for the mother and baby and continued on with their day ahead.

The morning I arrived back at camp, Traci comes to me and asks what I would think if she brought home a baby. I said, “Sure, of course!” (not sure how serious she was), but since I didn’t know exactly how culture works about these things, I asked her to check with Pastor Gift. Later that morning, they find the mother carrying wood, but barely moving, with the baby on her back. Traci offers to take the baby and Pastor Gift takes the wood. After some words exchanged between Pastor Gift and the mother, Gift turns to Traci and said the mother said she could care for the baby for the time she is in this area. Praise God!

So, we’ve had a baby for four days now! He has a raspy cough, so Traci and Jea brought him to the doctor to get medicine and vitamins yesterday. Later the same day, we thought we almost lost the little one, so they went to the hospital and were given electro-lytes, a long with more medicine. Pastor Gift, Traci, and Jea spoke life into the little one, as well as the team constantly praying for him to win this battle. He is a fighter! This morning, he is doing better, but please continue to pray for this little one. He is so precious!
