A true dream come true…

Years ago, I was inspired to write out a list of “thirty things I want to do before I turn thirty.”  I wanted to make sure I had accomplished a few of my childhood dreams in life before I gained more dreams from the influences around me.

This brings me to this past Saturday, with my friends and a balloon called “Wiley Coyote.”  My friends Sam and Diana call me Friday night, and I drive down for the “flight” of my life.

We woke up at 4:30am to prepare for our flight.  We gathered the balloon, the basket, and food to celebrate.  Around 7:00am, we began our journey.  It all begins with placing a massive fan in front of the deflated ten-story balloon.  Slowly, life is blown into the nonporous envelope that will soon set sail over Lake Travis in Austin.  From the fan, a more intense fire of lifting gas is blown into the massive pocket to create the displacement of air, thus applying the principle that the total upward buoyant force is equal to the weight of the air displace.  This creates the balloon to be lifted into the atmosphere and carried away by the wind.

We traveled over Lake Travis.  It was so exciting to ascend into the air and then descend to glide over the water.  I felt like I was walking on the water – just with a bottom of a basket in between our feet and the water. We searched for a place to land only to find a small street in between newly built houses.  I was given instructions to bend my knees before we touched the ground, and it was a perfect landing!! During the time of properly placing the balloon back into the storage unit, a small stone ripped the side of the balloon at a seam.  In order to fly again, the tear must be fixed…

Needless to say, it was a dream come true – best flight ever!!!

As I was meditating on how to apply this to my walk with Christ, God revealed the need to become the nonporous envelope. We need to allow God to be the hot air that is blown into us as the balloon, as an empty vessel without LIFE.  He can then take us where He needs us and use us to be the hands and feet of Christ.  However, we need to be conscious of our surroundings and watch out for small rocks that could tear holes in our balloon by putting the full Armor of God everyday.  In the case a rip happens, we need to make sure we go directly to the Ultimate Healer/Fixer and ask God to restore our souls.  My desire is to allow God to use me as His slave and servant – because He has restored my soul.  I pray I can be a nonporous envelope that God blows His hot air in – to move me!!
