Hello All!
Following is a copy of the Support Letter I sent out in March 2014 at the beginning of my fundraising journey for the WR:
Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you know, I will be graduating from Liberty University in May with my Bachelors in Visual Communication Arts: Graphic Design. With the end of my college career right around the corner I have been asked countless times what my plans are after college, and now I am pleased to say, I have an answer.
I have been called to participate in a mission trip called the World Race. The World Race is a ministry of Adventures In Missions, and with them I will travel to 11 different countries in the span of 11 months. The countries on my route are Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Thailand, Burma, Cambodia, Vietnam, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Albania. In each country I will partner with local ministries to serve some of the most needy people in the world. Some of the ways I will be serving include teaching, street evangelism, caring for orphans, feeding the hungry, working with women caught in prostitution, manual labor projects, and more. I will be living out of a backpack and traveling with a small team of other young adult Christians like myself, where we will encourage, strengthen, challenge, and help each other grow. It’s going to be a great opportunity for personal growth, spiritual growth, and ministry training experience.
The past number of summers I have been working as a counselor at a summer camp. During this time God has opened my eyes to the joy that can be found in putting myself second, in order to help others. Through this God has given me a desire to evangelize abroad. I have prayed that whatever God’s plan is for me, I would follow.
Many of you are Christians and share my mission to follow in Christ’s footsteps. Please prayerfully consider if you would like join this World Race with me by offering your encouragement, prayers, or financial support. Some of you may not share my belief in Christ, but you do believe in me, and share my desire to make a difference in this world. Those of us participating in “The World Race” will be a voice for so many who have no voice. I am excited to share this with you, because I know that I cannot minister in this way without you. I will need your prayers and supporting words as I begin this adventure and battle for the lost. I will also need your support financially.
Every bit helps, whether that is $5 or $5,000. I have to raise a minimum of $16,255 for the trip. However, if 30 people committed to giving $30 a month, and 15 more committed to giving $50 a month, I could reach above and beyond my goal! I will be updating my blog in the months leading up to the race and on the field, so I encourage you to follow along and experience the race with me. I thank you for whatever support you feel lead to give.
