“Life isn’t fair.” You hear it all the time and it is the truth, but why does that have to be a bad thing? If life was fair we would have no second chances, we would be bound by our past mistakes, and Jesus would not have come down to earth and died for our sins. BUT, He did, we are forgiven, we are redeemed. Gods redeeming love is proof that we are His children, the ones whom He have chosen, the ones He calls His own.
Sometimes I feel like God talks to me through music, and he has really been working with the idea of redemption in my life, in fact, redemption has been spoken over me a number of times. So I want to share some of the lessons I’ve been listening to. My God is good, and He teaches good lessons, He gives good gifts, and I want to share those.
“The beauty of Grace is that it makes life not fair.” -Relient K
I do not deserve the life I lead. I am a sinner, by nature I am not a good person, I am of the world, but my Papa upstairs doesn’t care. Again and again He extends grace, forgiveness and second chances. And He will continue to do so all my life. I don’t have to do anything special to gain his approval, I am enough. He loves me as I am. He is the beauty of this life, beginning and end of story. I can screw up, fall down, wail on the floor like a toddler, make bad choices, disappoint everyone, and turn away from everyone. But God will forgive, extend grace, and continue to love me. Every. Single. Time. … Life is not fair, and that is an amazing gift.
“When my world is shaking, heaven stands. When my heart is breaking, I never leave your hands.” -J.J. Heller
Tough things happen in life. Loss of job, loss of joy, loss of people, injuries, pain, sadness. All bummers, all cause hurt. The great news is that we have the best doctor ever. He sends us what we need, when we need it. His glory is the best redeemer… pretty much ever. He does all things for our benefit. Although hurt is crap, and totally sucks, it is nothing compared with what will come from His redeeming glory and love.
“Oh, throw off your fears and come running to me… as you run what hindered love will only become part of the story.”-Steffany Gretzinger
We can all think of ways we have been hurt, or ways we have been wronged, or ways we have wronged others. If we wrote them all down we could have a series of novels longer than all the Harry Potter, Narnia, and Lord of the Rings books combined. But once they are written down, they are over, it is only part of the story of who we were, not who we are going to be. As our pens scribble our faults across the paper Jesus instantly redeems them. Every chapter, every line, every word, every letter, is forgiven; it is turned and is used to build us into the children of God we are. And the amazing thing is that we don’t need to read back on our faults and beg for forgiveness, God redeems always. Constantly. By His grace, we are redeemed daily.
“We are more than conquerors, through Christ. You have overcome this world, this life. We will not bow to sin or to shame. We are defiant in Your name. You are the fire that cannot be tamed. You are the power in our veins. Our Lord, our God, our Conqueror.” -Rend Collective
Because of the redemption we receive, we have power in us. We don’t need to feel shame or defeat, in God we have been made new. We can be bold in how we approach the throne of Jesus, in fact, He wants us to be! We are His children, we are His heirs, we are victorious in Him. We are loved, we are chosen, we are forgiven, we are redeemed.
We are His.
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name, you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1b
