I’ve never been one for surprises. Yet coincidentally, My God has a a sense of humor and an infatuation with the pesky little things. He always seems to surprise me with a passion, desire, or a plan I never thought could possibly be intended for me.
I mean, come one. When my race ended I had planned on going to college, becoming a journalist, and then moving overseas at some point.
The only problem with the words above is that I had planned it. I had not yet surrendered them to The Father. It took me until month 7 of my race to completely do so. To release what little grasp I had on my future. Yet, as soon as I did He opened a door I never thought would open. He planted in my heart a desire to be intentionally discipled and a heart to pursue a deeper knowledge of His word.
So my friends, I would like to let you in on all God is allowing me to do!
This fall I will be attending CGA (Center for Global Action) in Gainesville, GA.
It is a program run through Adventures in Missions, the same organization I went on the World Race with. CGA exists to mobilize a generation of passionate Jesus followers whether that be at home, professionally, or church planting overseas. This program is designed to help discover my calling and help me jump into what that looks like in the next phase of my life.
Here are some FAQ’s about CGA:
When does CGA start?
I move to Gainesville September 16th.
How long will you be at CGA?
CGA is an eight month program from September 2016 – May 2017
What kind of classes will you be taking?
Over my eight months at CGA I will be taking a multitude of different classes covering and teaching the tools to reach men and women around the world. I will be brought up as a leader and taught how to disciple others while being intentionally discipled myself.
Why are you doing this? (Yep. That’s a good one)
I can honestly say I have never been more sure of any decision, as I am of this one. CGA is a place where community is cultivated. Where The Lord is welcome to reign in every aspect of everyday. Where passion overflows and action is taken to bring Kingdom. Our God is doing big things, and I want to be apart of it.
How much do you need to raise?
I have to raise $8,650. This includes: lodging, classes, and a capstone trip at the end of my time at CGA.
Why don’t you just get a job and pay for CGA yourself?
During my time at CGA I will have the opportunity to get a part time job in the community. However, with little time outside of classes, a part time job will not come close to covering the expenses of CGA.
But most importantly this is still a part of my journey to becoming a missionary. Fundraising for the World Race is proof that God shows up like never before during the fundraising process. He uses this opportunity to not just stretch and grow me, but also the giver. Willing putting yourself into a position where you have to completely rely on Him is a truly beautiful thing.
How can I support you?
There are a few ways you can support me financially!
1. You can donate to my already existing World Race account.
You can do this by clicking the button on the fundraising bar that says “Donate” at the top of this blog.
This method is tax deductible!! (woop woop!)
2. You could also donate to me personally by mailing a check to my casa:
