HELLO WOLRD!

I am beyond ready to start this journey with everyone! WOOHOO!

2 Timothy 1:9 “He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.”

I decided to start off this blog with one of my favorite Bible verse about the undeserving love we experience through God’s good grace. This is a humbling truth we always need to be reminded of.

Now, a little about me. My name is Mary Katherine Keough and I am currently a sophomore at Mississippi State University. As of now, I am studying floral management, but I am not completely sure what exactly I want to do. I grew up in a town called Collierville, which is outside of Memphis, TN. I grew up there my entire life and went to the same school from start until graduation. I grew up with two brothers. One is older, Drew 21, and the other is younger, Carver 9. Last summer, I added a little addition to our family; a little tan dachshund named Moose. She will be one year old May 8. She has truly been a blessing. I am going to apologize in advance about how much I will probably mention her in my blogs. She is my entire world. Along with Moose, I have a black lab named Max and another dog named Sophie.

Some things I enjoy doing are going to the movies, taking pictures, trying new places to eat and new foods, SHOPPING, and making floral arrangements.

I have grown up in a Christian family and attended a Christian school all my life. It was not until the end of my freshman year of college that I really started to create a relationship with God that was different than my parents. My second semester of freshman year was really challenging for me. I was away from home, I had dysfunctional friendships, and I was really just not enjoying school like I always thought I would. At that point, I had considered coming home and finishing school in Memphis but I decided I was going to give Mississippi State another try. Over that summer, I spent a lot of time self reflecting and came up with ways to meet new people and give myself a fresh start with the people back at school. During this time is really when my relationship with God grew. I started to rely on Him and knew if I wanted things to be better I had to give all my problems to Him.

Sophomore year finally started and I was extremely nervous to go back to school. Within the first month of school, things were so much better than the previous year. I started spending more time with people who shared the same mindset of me and was on the same pace with their faith as me. One of my roommates had a huge impact on me in ways I doubt she even knows she did. She is a strong believer and was an amazing Christian role model. She pushed me to be a better version of myself and held me accountable for my actions. She is so confident in her faith and it was truly inspiring. This encouraged me to dive into God’s Word and study it more. I remember one night her and I were talking in my car. I told her I really wanted to surround myself with more people strong in their faith and prayed I would find a friend like-minded. Sure enough God answered my prayers and provided. Around the month of February, out of nowhere I reconnected with an old friend from freshman year and we completely hit it off. She is so firm in her Faith and has no shame talking about it. I am so thankful for God for putting her into my life, we have spent countless hours talking about our faith, answering questions we have, and talking about our love for missions and the trips we have been on.

My next blog I am going to talk more on why I decided to go The World Race and what actually sparked my love for admissions. I hope you learned a little more about me and I can not wait to share more of myself and this beautiful journey I am about to embark on.
