I hope that each of you will follow me and gain as much as I, and all who I come in contact with do during this wonderful journey!
My name is MK. My mom says it stands for Mary- Katherine, the church says it stands for Missionary Kid. So here I am trying to fulfill both of these roles and loving every second of it! I'm 22 years old (and I will not correct this false information when I have a birthday because I don't want to turn 23!) I was born and raised in the lovely little town of Collierville,TN outside of Memphis. I would say I'm a pretty even mix of a country/city girl. I have been blessed with wonderful parents, a 16 year old sister named Lindsey, and so many amazing friends who completely understand and support me in going on The World Race and are helping me in any way that they can. I have attended the same church since I was 3 years old and I truly treasure the support system that I have there.
I graduated high school in 2008 from Briarcrest Christian School, and just recently in May I graduated from college at The University of Tennessee at Martin with a degree in Early Childhood Education.
I have always had a passion for working with young children. Since I was in Kindergarten I have said that I was going to be a Kindergarten teacher. Most kids say an astronaut or a veterinarian, but I knew my dream was bigger than just a regular suburban classroom teacher. This passion grew 100 times stronger when I went on my first mission trip to Guatemala in 2008 with my high school as a senior. Since, my mom and I have started leading a group to the same children's home there and I have been 7 times. Half of my heart is in Guatemala and it is going to be SO hard to be away for almost 2 years, but I'm looking forward to getting to see and be a part of so many other different types of ministries in all different cultures.
It is absolutely amazing how God has lead me to this point in my life, and I love seeing all of the peices coming together to make perfect sense in His perfect plan. Please join me on this journey and continue to pray for me, my squad, and all of the people who we encounter.
'Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.' Colossians 4: 2-4
