Considering this is my first post on The World Race blog, I suppose I will start off by saying Hello to anyone who may come across my public journal. I am super excited about serving God on this adventure to "the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8). I know, I know, some of you may be thinking "you are excited about leaving your home, your family, your friends to serve people you've never met before all around the world?!?" Well in short, yes.

This wasn't always the case.

If you had asked me that same question a year ago, I probably would have gave you a chuckle (or atleast an awkward smile) and played it off as a joke. Mission work? Outside of the country? This thought just wasn't in my head. I love my family. I love my friends. I love Kentucky. I love being comfortable. However, I know the night it became different so clearly. I had gone on one of my infamous walks down 519 in Morehead to spend time with God, and I just broke down on the side of the road. My heart began to break for people I had never met. My heart began to break for nations I've never been to. My heart began to break for causes that I never thought of before. I remember going back to my apartment and telling a friend "I want to do mission work". I know it may seem radically different for just one night. It was. I haven't looked back since.

Over the summer, I decided I wanted to do something after I graduated from Morehead State University in May 2012. Where did I turn? To my good pal Google. I was working in my cubicle at Great American Insurance when I came across The World Race and instantly became amazed at the opportunity that I was searching for months to find. From then, I prayed, filled out the application, prayed, talked to a representive on the phone, prayed, had a phone interview, prayed, and then I received the phone call. I was accepted.

Now here I am, laying in bed at 1:50am creating my first post for this adventure. I'm really not sure what stories, adventures, thoughts, or moments of rejoicing will pop up on this blog in the next couple years, but I'm excited to see what God has planned.

One of my favorite artist is the Christian rapper Lecrae. In the chorus of his song "Send Me", he simply says "Send me, I'll go". Even though it's four simple words, it's what our Father wants to hear. Send me, Lord, I'll go.

Signing off with love and continual prayer,

Mitch
