Asking for money is a funny thing. When I was in high school and college, I had no problem finding the courage to ask my parents for a $20 or, to be honest, amounts a bit larger than that. However, as I got older I took pride in being a strong, independent woman.
I share this with you because fundraising $18,200 was one of the reasons I was hesitant to partake in the World Race ministry. It’s a lot of money and who am I to ask people to donate their money to The World Race. At one point, I even evaluated my finances to see if I would be able to save $18,000 in a year and just pay for it myself. Clearly God is working on some self-sufficiency issues with me.
With that being said, God has completely humbled my heart through this entire fundraising process. By the time I leave the great state of Minnesota on January 3rd, all $18,200 will have been donated and I will be fully funded to serve on the World Race. Beyond the $18,200, people have been so extremely generous I have also been able to cover the costs of my flight out of Minnesota, travel immunizations, and some supplies. I have been humbled by others wanting to serve God by giving. And because of this there are some thank yous I would like to share:
