The World Race officially began for our squad on Monday, January 7th. We started in Atlanta and travelled by air and bus through five different cities before reaching our host home on Monday evening.  We were greeted by Pastor Gregorio and his family at the bus station then taken to their home where we will be staying this month.  His wife Francisca is a fantastic cook and I look forward to learning how to make homemade tortillas.

This month of ministry we are partnering with Pastor Gregorio in Honduras to help with his children’s ministry.  The first day we interacted with the kids with songs and games.   During their coloring time, the kids somehow convinced my teammate Katie and I to draw pictures for them.  I believe Katie drew about30 airplanes, busses, and fish while I was asked to draw Minnie and Mickey Mouse.  And let’s just say the last Mickey looked a lot less creepy than the first one.  It was a fun activity and just a small way to bless the students.

The kids are funny, loving, and playful. I even got attitude from one of the students the very first day.  She kept asking “Donde vives” and since I didn’t understand what she was saying, I responded “no lo se” which means I don’t know.  After asking our alumni squad leader to interpret, the student was asking “Where do you live?”.  No wonder she was annoyed and kept rolling her eyes at me since my response every time to where do you live was I don’t know.

Besides working with Pastor Gregorio and the children’s ministry here, I believe God has blessed me with the gift of time these next 11 months.  Not just time to serve but time to grow in my relationship with Him and become more intimate with the Holy Spirit.  I can already feel God doing things in me and through me like never before now.  And it’s only day three.
