As I think back to this last week and about what has been going with the Penn State Football team scandal. My heart is heavy. My heart is heavy for the children that have had a piece of themselves stolen, stolen by a man that wanted to feed his selfish desires and not at all thinking about the lives he was ruining.
What happened at Penn State is sadly happening all around the world and it’s called, Human Trafficking. Human trafficking is the modern day slavery. It happens in many different forms- from forced labor to forced prostitution. It’s happening in countries like Thailand, Cambodia, Germany, Mexico, The United Sates and the list just goes on… (HERE ARE SOME FACTS)
DID YOU KNOW: LAST YEAR THE SEX SLAVE INDUSTRY PROFITED 32 BILLION DOLLARS. THAT IS MORE MONEY THEN STARBUCKS, NIKE, AND GOOGLE MADE COMBINED.
DID YOU KNOW: THAT 1.2 MILLION CHILDREN ARE TRAFFICKED EVERY YEAR, THIS IS IN ADDITION TO THE MILLIONS ALREADY HELD CAPTIVE BY TRAFFICKING.
DID YOU KNOW: THAT APPROXIMATELY 30 MILLION CHILDREN HAVE LOST THEIR CHILDHOOD THROUGH SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OVER THE LAST THIRTY YEARS.
Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in the world. So poor that they have no money for food and in order to save their children from starving- many families are forced to sell their children into the sex trafficking market. Thinking that it’s the best option for their children. To be fair- the parents aren’t educated and they really don’t have a clear understanding of what their Children are going to go through. Many parents are naive enough to believe that they will be able to buy their child back. But the reality of that ever happening is unrealistic and it’s very rare. (Cambodia is our 10th country on the race).
While I’m on the World Race- I will have the chance to meet victim’s (the women and children) past and present that have been victimized by the sex trafficking market.

“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act JUSTLY and to LOVE MERCY and to WALK HUMBLY with your God.”
