Greetings!

*** Defer – put off (an action or event) to a later time; postpone.

Well, even though I was given an extension to the financial deadline I was not able to reach the goal of $3,500 in time to be able to participate in the September 2014 Route 5 – L Squad. Therefore, I have decided to defer to a January 2015 Route. Please pray with me about which route to choose to join. I am feeling led towards either the World FUSION route or the All Spanish route (Route 1). I have about a month to let my mobilizer know which route I would like to join. The only language that I speak fluently right now is English, and sometimes that fails too, LoL. I have taken an intro to Spanish class in college and have several friends who speak Spanish and I could practice with them before I go should I end up taking that route.

There are lots of thoughts and emotions flowing through me about this happening but I know that God has a purpose and reason for me not participating on the route that I had originally intended on embarking, and He has given me peace about the situation.

Tonight at Crew Worship, Lindsey, one of the Crew Coordinators at camp, spoke about waiting on the Lord and placing our hope in God. It was what I needed to hear. Below are some of the things that she spoke on:

~ Our culture is not very good at waiting.
~ We don’t always have a choice about waiting but we do have a choice about how we wait.
~ Waiting can be painful, frustrating, and/or discomforting at times.

Examples of waiting in the Bible:
~ Waiting with a passive attitude (See John 20:19-20)
~ Waiting for a Savior (See Luke 2:25-38)
~ Anxiety & Doubt, Abraham and Sarah (See Genesis 15: – 21:)

Why should we wait in hope for the Lord?
~ Waiting builds patience in our lives.
~ Waiting transforms our character – our thoughts, attitudes, mind-set.
~ Waiting builds anticipation. ~ Waiting builds intimacy and dependence on God.

Questions to ponder:
~ In what areas of life are you waiting for the Lord?
~ How are you waiting: in apathy? In hope?

So, in light of having to defer my participation in The World Race I get to wait longer to leave. This is probably for the better for multiple reasons even though some of them are selfish reasons… longer to fundraise and build more support, more time to get all the stuff that I need for the Race, being able to go to Unity Music Festival, get to finish the season at camp and help close down the store (which means staying at camp until late September/early October), being able to celebrate turning 30 in the USA with friends/family, not having to be away from home at Christmas, etc.

Additional readings on Hope & Waiting on the Lord:
Psalm 33, Psalm 130, Romans 5:1-5, Colossians 1:3-23, 1 Peter 1:3-9

Well, the choice is yours: when faced with a period of waiting, how will you choose to wait? Patiently and calmly? Or will you be angry and annoyed at the situation? The choice is yours friends! But take comfort in what Romans 8:28 (NIV) says: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Have a great week! As always, feel free to leave a comment if you’d like! I’d love to hear from you! Thanks! God Bless!

Keep Lookin’ Up,
Misha
