Buenos dias! This blog will give an update on some of the ministry that we have helped with these past few days.

Discipleship time with the REMAR teen girls on Friday. We played alliteration name game and that was really fun because you had to try to remember everyone who came before you. We also did it in English and Espanol so that was kind of challenging. After that, the WR girls told the girls why we chose to come on the WR and Andrea (our ministry host/contact) translated. Then, Lauren and Sara shared some of their testimonies with the girls. We get to meet with these girls a handful more times while we are here (Wednesday and Friday afternoons), so please pray that we can build relationships with these girls and that we can pour into these girls lives.

Saturday morning church service @ La Red: Because this is a beach/surfer community, many people are busy on Sunday mornings when church is typically held, so La Red decided to have their morning service on Saturday mornings. Sara and I helped Andrea with the older kids Sunday school class. We played a game: each person had the opportunity to bounce 5 rubber bouncy balls into one of 5 containers (cups and bowls) while standing about 10 feet away. Then, Andrea had a lesson on prayer. The kids got to make a craft too to help remember the lesson. Trace your hand, label each finger as a reminder of how to pray: worship/adore/praise God, ask for forgiveness/repent, give thanks to God, pray for others, pray for yourself.

Saturday afternoon w/ REMAR kids @ the beach: Our team, plus the staff at REMAR, plus about 5 others came out to help us take 70-75 kids to the beach for 4 hours. The kids had a blast! Cergio was my buddy and he took a beating from the waves because he just wanted more, he couldn’t get enough. The waves were anywhere from 1 foot to 4-5 feet tall. At one point he had me hold him and he was blowing raspberries on my neck. Later, I was holding Carmen in the ocean. She was kind of afraid and I think I probably held her more than she was down in the ocean. Andrea’s brother also runs a surf school and he was there and gave some of the older kids surf lessons and helped some of them attempt it… some were successful. After being in the water for awhile, the WR team did a improvised skit of the story of Jonah… it was great. Then, we passed out snacks: cookies, neopolatin creamy sugar, and mini bottles of soda. After that we allowed them to play some more while the sunset over the ocean.

Sunday morning @ K59 Ministry with Wendy: This was a Sunday morning service in a small community about 20-25 minutes from where we were staying. At the beginning, the WR team introduced themselves. Then, we played a game where everyone was assigned an animal and you had to form a group such that everyone in the group was the same animal, but you could only act out your animal. Next, we split into two groups: kids (under 13) and teens + adults. Ashley led the kids group and Sara led the teens & adults group. In the kids group, we acted out the story of David and Goliath while Andrea translated again. Then, we had a craft – color the shield and write out the verse Psalms 28:7a – “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trust in him, and he helps me.” Next, we played “Fishy, Fishy” and “Red Light, Green Light”. Then, we passed out a snack. When that was done, we had everyone come back together. Elly from 100SmileProject had sent with us toothbrushes and toothpaste for us to distribute to the children and so we did that. After this we gathered our things and headed out.

Monday (today) is our day off so I will probably be posting this blog at the local wifi cafe and probably go to the beach at some point. Also, I get to have my first one-on-one with Mollie and I think we are going to get chinese food at “Take a WOK”… it is going to be fabulous.

Please continue to pray for our team that we could allow ourselves to be vulnerable with each other and for health and that we stay hydrated as it is very hot here. Thanks a bunch!
Keep Lookin’ Up,
Misha
