Hey readers! My plan was to post this on Sunday but while I was home my internet decided to not work and then I got back late to camp last night and didn’t have time until this evening to post.

I am going to be telling you about my “summer” thus far and give you a glimpse into the future plans of my summer. Summer camps started the end of April at Cedar Campus. I work at Cedar Campus: InterVarsity Training Camp in Cedarville, MI, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This is my fourth summer working here on crew, third as Supervisory Crew, where I am in charge of running the camp bookstores.

Our first set of campers arrived Saturday, April 26th, 2014. There were nearly 300 students. Since the beginning of the season, we have had about 1,300 college students come through Cedar Campus over the first 5 weeks of camp. This past week we had a group of 50ish Chinese Scholars come up to camp, however, they went off campus quite a bit so we had less involvement with their program. They left on Thursday morning.

From this past Thursday (June 5) through Saturday (June 14) Cedar Campus will have no campers. So, in light of that, I decided to take a trip back to Muskegon to take a “break”. Well, I was still busy, but a different kind of busy. I got home about 10pm on Thursday evening. Friday I relaxed some during the day, went grocery shopping, had dinner with my parents, and played games with a few friends. Saturday I got to sleep in (that felt nice), ran around town to pick up a few things, and then travelled to Detroit with a group of 11 others to attend my first ever Detroit Tigers baseball game (vs. Red Sox). We did not get home until 3:15am Sunday… it was a late night. Then, Sunday morning I got up and went to church, came home and ate lunch, went back to the church so I could get things set up for a Premier Jewelry Fundraising party, had the party, cleaned up, came home and helped make dinner, ate, and started writing this blog. Monday, I was suppose to go to the dentist but the appointment was cancelled because the doctor was sick. So I made a few quick stops around town, met my mom for lunch, went to Grand Rapids to pick up a co-worker, stopped in Kalkaska to have dinner with a friend, stopped at Wal-Mart to buy a few things, and drove back to Cedarville, MI. I got back around 10:45pm.

As far as the rest of the summer goes: we will be hosting several other camps, some concurrently  including:
God of Wonders (formerly Hymns Conference)
Pastor’s Seminar
Family Camps 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5
InterVarsity Leadership Institute (IVLI) – this is a month long student camp
Ohio Church Camps (3)

So, I better enjoy this down time while I can before it gets busy again. Oh, another thing, I will be going to Atlanta, GA, for training camp for the World Race on July 19 – 26th. I am looking forward to this! There are still several things that I will need to purchase before I go to Training Camp and/or The World Race. Some of those things include: – Tent (2-person Freestanding, > 88” in length) with Footprint & Rain Fly – still deciding which one to buy – Sleeping Bag with Sleeping Liner – still deciding which ones to buy – Basic camping gear – dishes and silverware, still deciding which ones to buy – Vaccinations – there is a list – Clothing – mainly skirts and tops, yes you heard me right – Electronic device to type blog updates on – most likely an iPad because they are super light, easy to use but also considering a Chrome Book of some type as well. Any suggestions? – Nicer camera that isn’t too large or difficult to use… I have had a few offers that I am considering – Probably some other things that I am drawing a blank on right now

On a different note, I want to give God some praise. He is providing some of the funds needed for the World Race. I received about $600 over the weekend and I received a call tonight from someone tonight saying they were going to send $1000.00 and possibly more later if needed. I am still a long ways off from reaching $16,254.35 but every little bit helps! I am putting my faith and trust in God that He will provide if He wants me to go. “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1).

I hope you all have a great week! God Bless!
