Update: 91% Funded! Wow!!! I am completely blown away by everyone’s willingness to partner with me to go out and be the hands and feet of Jesus to those all over Central and South America. You can still give a donation if you’d like as I am in need of about $1,200.00 still.
I’ve never really been good with good-byes, so I will just say See-Ya Later! Time with friends and family is precious, especially now that I only have 5 days left before I leave for 11 MONTHS! I am super excited to start this next chapter in my life, but I am also sad to be leaving all of my loved ones who are near and dear to me. I know that this is where the Lord is leading me, and that I need to do this (The World Race) to really figure me out, to grow closer to the Lord, to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the lost, etc.
I am having 2 going-away parties, one later today, and one on Sunday. I expect those will be both fun and sad, and my emotions will be all over the place. Pray with me that the Lord gives me His strength to get through them.
Packing: The struggle is real. Everything (mostly) that I will need for the next 11 months have to fit in a large back pack (mine is 80L) and my school back pack. I will post pictures once it is packed in the pictures section – won’t be until late Tuesday probably because I leave out Wednesday morning.
Goals for 2015: (inspired by hearing a conversation between my pastor and his boys)
1. Spiritually – Grow closer (intimately) to my Heavenly Father and continue to allow Him to mold me into who He wants me to be. Spend time daily with Him via Bible Study and/or Prayer.
2. Physically – Become healthier: move more, eat less junk.
3. Relationally – Allow people to really know me. Build authentic community with my squad/team mates.
4. General – Serve the least of these. Practice what I preach. Step out of my comfort zone. Be present.
What are some of your goals for 2015? Spiritually? Physically? Academically? Relationally? General? Leave a comment or send me a message, I would love to hear them and hold you accountable if you’d like. You have permission to ask me how I am doing as well.
First Ministry Assignment for Team Relentless: “La Red” in La Libertad, El Salvador (Check out their Fb page: https://www.facebook.com/laredsv )
We will be pairing with “La Red”, a non-profit Christian organization that seeks to improve the living conditions of all residents of the beach communities in El Salvador.
We will be living, eating, and sleeping at an orphanage in La Libertad. We will most likely be using our tents, but there are a few showers.
Different (possible) ministry’s mentioned: – we will be serving every Saturday morning at La Red church – helping set up for service – help with the kids classes (0-9 years old class and 10-13 year olds class) – short discipleship program with the teen girls of REMAR orphanage – special activity with all the kids at REMAR orphanage – beach clean-up at one of communities we work with
We could also possibly lead worship, share parts of our testimonies, and minister at the orphanage.
Things to be praying for: El Salvador and for our ministry/team. Softened, receiving hearts in Jesus name! Prepare the way before us, direct us to who YOU want to speak to! Amen!
