Hi everyone, as many of you know I am currently serving on a three month mission trip. I will be serving in Nicaragua for a month than Costa Rica for two. Over this past week we attended a three day training camp before heading out on the field where we learned more than I could imagine. Many lessons will stick with me but the one that stuck out to me the most was the message on the last night called “Plant the seed.” Mark 4:30-32 “And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what comparison shall we compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which when it is sown In the earth, is less than all the seeds that be In the earth: But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the goals of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.” During the message the speaker challenged us with the question do we plant seeds everywhere we go? For me, it is easy to forget to plant seeds everywhere I go after all we are called to that. It is easy to fall into the mindset that planting a seed can only be done on a mission trip or we don’t actually influence others around us unless we see the fruit and the influence we think we are putting in. After all was said she gave us some reminders to remember on the field as well as in everyday life that I would like to share. 1.) You don’t have to understand what he is doing or why he is doing it. 2.) Show up everyday 3.) Be willing 4.) Get over yourself 5.) Die to yourself 6.) The harvest won’t come unless you scatter the seed 7.) Put in work 8.) Do the work without the glory. Lastly “For us to grow into maturity of what God has planned for you, you must put Gods will and word first.” Training camp opened my eyes to the true meaning behind missions and serving. I hope to one day be able to die to myself everyday to serve and plant seeds everywhere I go without a second thought. As I continue to stretch myself spiritually throughout these next three months please join me in prayer!
