Please forgive me for the delayed blog post! I’ll try to be better 😛

To be honest, this first month was not what I expected.

Before I got here I had imagined life on the race to be busy, with ministry all the time. I would imagine all the people we would preach to and would give their lives to Christ, all the babies I would hold and love. The first few days here there were no ministry, no work to be done. So we rested and hammocked to our hearts content.

Although I had all these plans in my head for the month, God had different plans. He’s funny like that.

We finally met our ministry host a few days later. They have been one of my favorite parts during my time here in Cote d’Ivoire. We have been working with Pastor Matthew, his wife who goes by Mama Nic and their three beautiful daughters. They have a church about 20 minutes away (or an hour and a half away depending on traffic). 😉

Ministry this month looked like leading Tuesday night Bible studies for the youth & young adults, evangelising to the community, attending and speaking at Friday night and Sunday services and most recently singing a English/French/Twi combo song that we had learned at the beginning of the month in our matching hand tailored African dresses. Despite forgetting the tune and making up our own, we nailed it.

Although this month was not what I had planned, it was what God planned. I am so thankful for my time in the Ivory Coast. He placed my team here with these people for a reason and I have been so blessed. He has taught me that ministry on the Race isn’t always doing super crazy things. Sometimes it looks like babysitting your pastors kids or encouraging our new friends with a Bible study about God’s plan for their lives.

The first month of my Race is over. Time is a strange thing,

I am so sad to be leaving. But another adventure awaits us in Ghana.

As much as I would like to post a blog every week, I just can’t promise that just yet. BUT if you would like, add me on Facebook and watch my videos! I enjoy making videos much more than writing blogs. 😉 There are 2 up and 1 on the way!

Update: We made it go Ghana yesterday! We left our home in Cote d’Ivoire at 6AM and rode on a bus for about 15 hours, stayed the night in a house and left in the morning for another 8 hour drive to our final destination. We are settled here and are meeting with our ministry host later today.

Prayer requests:

Continued health- We have not had any major sicknesses praise God!

Ministry- Pray for those we will talk to (THEY SPEAK ENGLISH HERE! PRAISE!) that they will see Jesus through us.

Fundraising- It’s very difficult to be fundraising while on the field. Sharing this blog or my Facebook posts would help a lot!

I still have a ways to go in order to meet my next fundraising goal at the end of September. If you would like to donate monthly or one time please click on the “support me” tab at the top of this page!

sending my love from Africa,
