Some basics for those of you just now dropping in: My sister and I are about to embark an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries across 4 continents. We’re headed to: Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Cambodia, and Thailand. The work will range from country to country in partnership with established ministries in each area. We’ll work in orphanages, build churches, minister to trafficked women, and more. Between the two of us, we need to raise a total of $36,000 by October 2017.

I was interviewing a man who was trying to raise twenty million dollars to rebuild an old dilapidated theatre.

I asked him, “What would you say to encourage people to give?”

His response surprised me.

“Look, this is going to happen. A few years from now, you’ll drive by this place, and you’ll either say to yourself ‘Wow, look at that,’ or you’ll say, ‘I helped to make that happen.’”

That man was full of faith.

Now, I find myself in a similar situation. My sister and I have both been accepted into the World Race. We each have to raise $18,017.00.

So here I am, asking myself this time, “What would you say to encourage people to give?”

I would love to respond just as he did, full of faith, but the truth is some part of me is scared.

Some part of me feels like I need to beg, to convince, to tell a good story.

In my job, a good story is dependent on a good source.

In this season, I’m constantly reminding myself who my source is. And knowing that ultimately, God is my provider. Those that decide to partner with us, they are His resources.

So, with that in the forefront, I’m extending an invitation to you, to become one of our resources.

Partner with my sister and I, so that through all of us God can do something amazing.

He’ll do it anyway, I know that. Even if I quit the race, even if no one gave, God’s work will be accomplished through another vessel. It says in Matthew 24:14, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations.”

But wouldn’t it be amazing to be able to say, “I helped make that happen.”

MONEY TALKS

If you do decide to give, I’d like you to know exactly where your money is going.

My sister and I are fundraising as a team, which means that all of the following totals are doubled. You can follow her blog at www.sarahlandsman.worldrace.org.

Here’s an outline of our fundraising goals:

  • $10,000 by 04/01/2017

  • $20,000 by 06/01/2017

  • $26,000 by 08/01/2018

  • $36,034 by 10/01/2018

All the money we raise goes to Adventures in Missions (the missions organization World Race is under) and will cover all our necessary expenses (food, travel, lodging) the entire time we are overseas.

Everything you give is nonrefundable and tax deductible.

world Race Budget, world race budget breakdown, world race finance, world race money

The vast majority of the money we raise goes directly to our racer expenses.

The charts will show you, and here’s a further explanation:

  • 2% ($721) Training Camp (Cultural training before departure)

  • 4% ($1,441) Field Support (Getting us supplies, supporting local contacts, etc.)

  • 12% ($4,324) WR Development Program (Improvements and developments)

  • 17% ($6,126) Administration Fees (Processing, paying the staff who take care of every detail of our travel, food, lodging, etc.)

  • 65% ($23,422) World Racer Budget

And here’s how the 65% $23,422 “World Racer” budget breaks down:

  • 45% ($10,540) Intercontinental travel

  • 13% ($3,045) Food

  • 19% ($4,450) Lodging

  • 11% ($2,576) Transportation

  • 12% ($2,811) Long Distance Travel and Misc. Supplies

Again, all of the totals are doubled to cover both mine and my sister’s expenses. We’re encouraging people to donate to either one of our pages.

When one of us reaches the goal, we’ll let everyone know to switch to the other page.

I hope you all will partner with us in some form, through encouragement or by spreading the word, but especially through your prayers.

Please let us know how we can be praying for you as well.
