It’s been a while since I’ve updated my blog. Wifi here is scarce. In fact, we had to walk to the nearest gas station (a few miles away from base) to post our blogs this week.
This month, we’re working as a squad at the Mendoza YWAM base in Argentina. It’s about an hour bus ride from civilization.
It feels kind of like summer camp here. All fifty of us are crammed into tiny rooms with as many bunk beds as can fit.
The amenities are complete with two showers and two toilets that stopped working the second day we got here.
Nights are humid. Many racers have ditched the tiny bunk beds for their tents outside. Sarah and I are considering it.
It feels like we’re on the world race.
I feel honored to be here.
The YWAM team does amazing ministry for the Kingdom. I’m excited to serve them. On the property, they host summer camps and retreats. In the community, they do youth sports outreach. They also train mission workers and send them all around the world (like us!).
Right now, our teams are helping them get ready for summer. This looks like sanding, painting, construction and deep cleaning.
At 7 A.M. one morning, it looked like five rakes and a massive empty water reserve.
Our team, Radiate, was given the task of cleaning up the former reserve in hopes of turning it into a swimming pool for the summer.
The bottom was covered in leaves and dust.
We raked the leaves into piles and then wheelbarrowed them out. Then we swept for hours until we got all of the dirt out.

The leaders tell us this pool will be used as an outreach tool, drawing neighborhood kids to have fun and learn about the love of Jesus.
I re-applied sunscreen three times (I promise, Dad) and I STILL got sun-blistered.

Twelve hours later, our team looked with joy and surprise as water came flooding into the pool.

When kids tell you to go into the water with them, you go!

Sunburned and sun-dried, I should feel exhausted, but instead, I feel exhilarated.
I’m so excited for the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus to these people.
