Hi! I hope this letter finds you well. I will soon be finishing my senior year of high school and have made the decision to embark on a 9 month mission trip to serve the Lord. I am going on this journey with a ministry called Adventures in Missions, on the The World Race: Gap Year. Although my plan was to always go to college right after graduating, I have decided to instead defer my acceptance to Charleston Southern University.
After my first missions trip to Guatemala with my family, I felt like I was drawn to missions, whether it was traveling across the globe or just in my hometown. God placed this idea stronger in my heart my sophomore year of high school when I was given the opportunity to go on a week-long missions trip with some of my peers to Nicaragua. This past year God has started to build a true hunger and thirst for growth in our relation and an expansion and deepening of my knowledge of Jesus. I believe that on this journey God will reveal himself in ways I cannot even imagine and additionally will bring clarity on the plans he has for my life.
Adventures in Missions mobilizes people of all generations to follow the call of Jesus by providing short-term mission trips around the world. The central purpose of the team I have joined is to serve children and families in regions of poverty, to move out of our comfort zones, and to see God at work. Each trip puts a tremendous emphasis on prayer and discipleship for not only me and other participants but also for those who come to Christ. I am going on the World Race Gap Year: Route 3 through eSwatini, Ethiopia and Cambodia.
I am asking for your partnership. As I strap on my 50 pound pack and leave for Africa in September, I will be leaving everything familiar behind and not coming home for my birthday or Christmas. The leaders of The World Race have told me that I will need partners at home that financially support me, pray for me, and write to me through my blog. I am a bit intimidated about the amount I need to raise to serve the orphans and kids on my mission, but believe that through you and me, God will provide. I thank you for considering it.
