I’m going to get a little personal right now because I feel that God wants me to share more of my story with you.

I grew up poor. I know that people say that and then go to Disneyland every year, but that’s not what I mean. I mean that I grew up in a beat up old metal trailer house, and ate mostly beans and rice every day. I saw the pain in my mom’s eyes when she had to tell us that we could not ride on the rides in front of the grocery store because she wouldn’t be able to buy food that day if she did. I saw her eat very little for dinner just to make sure that her children went to bed with full bellies. I’ve seen her make and continue to make so many sacrifices for us and I know that there are many parents making the same ones in the countries that I will be going to and here in the United States. God has provided for them and us during this time.

When I was five my dad found a better job and things started to get better. They still couldn’t buy us all the things that the kids on our street had but we were comfortable. Our church helped us out a lot during this time too. They provided Christmas presents one year and even food when we needed it!

In high school my parents divorced. This was very hard for me but I knew that they would both be happier.

After the divorce things got tough again. We had to sell our house, because we couldn’t afford to make payments anymore. We had no idea where we were going to go once it sold. Thankfully, a woman from my church provided a place for us to live until we can get things together! Things are still tight and are going to get tighter, but I know that God has everything planned out and that He will provide!

My life growing up has been part of my motivation to do the World Race. I know that I will be able to connect with the families I will meet on another level than some on my team, and they will be able to connect with others in ways that I won’t be able to. I also know that God is going to use my past and theirs as His tool to minister to others.

Even though I have no way to pay for everything I need on my own to do the race I have faith that He has called me and chose me to do this! He has and always will provide everything I need! He is so amazing!

“Fear not for you are worth more than many sparrows”

Matthew 10:31

He cares for the birds and the plants why wouldn’t He care about us? It just amazes me how much He loves and cares about us!

This post was hard for me to write but I wanted to share more of my story with you.

Thank you all for reading, your encouragement and support!
