"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble"

Psalm 46:1

On Monday my mom got into a really bad car accident that totaled her car. She was on her way to work when she rolled her car. She called me as soon as I parked at my work and let my brother and I know that she was in and accident and was ok, but she was unable to drive her car and that we needed to come pick her up. The way she talked to us made it sound like it wasn't that bad of an accident. So I just thought that someone might of rear ended her. Even though she sounded ok on the phone I said a quick prayer asking God that she would be ok.

We went around the corner where the accident happened and saw her car laying on the passenger side in the middle of a lane and facing the opposite way from where she was going. There was pieces of glass and items that were in her car all over the road. I was so scared when I saw the fire truck, ambulance and the police cars. I was not expecting to see anything like this and I still had no idea how my mom was doing.

We pulled over and then went to talk to the officer that was directing traffic. He was so calm and reassuring that I was put at ease right away. He let us know where the ambulance was taking my mom and that she wasn't injured. She hit her head and they wanted her to go to the ER and have it looked at. He also told us how it happened and where she went airborne. I said another quick prayer of thanks to God that everyone was ok and then drove to the hospital.

We got to the hospital the same time the ambulance did. They allowed us to come in one at a time and talk to my mom. When I came in they had her in a neck brace and laying on the bed. Seeing this sent another shock through me. I've always seen my mom as being strong and seeing her laying there on the bed in the neck brace was alarming.

The EMT who rode in the ambulance with her came in and asked her to sign some paperwork. While she was signing he showed me the picture of her car laying on its side. This sent that fear through me all over again. I think he was so relived that my mom was able to walk away from the crash without a scratch on her, that he wanted to share it with everyone.

Anyways the doctor came and looked her over and did x-rays. They didn't find anything wrong and we were then able to go to where they towed the car and collect all the items that were in it.

God definitely protected my mom and everyone else involved that day and I am so thankful for it!

Another miracle that happened yesterday is that one of the springs in our gate to enter our driveway broke. Our gate goes up like a guillotine and it has fallen on some cars. We were all lucky that the spring didn't break while someone was going through the gate.

Even though bad things happen, we know that God is in control and He has something planned in all of this.
