This is part two of my Meals and Miles campaign.

Over the course of 11 months, I will be traveling to 11 countries. These include: Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, India, Mongolia, Nepal, China, Swaziland, Botswana, and South Africa. Just in air travel, I am likely to fly 21,500 miles. Accounting for my fundraising goal of $16,273, that’s about 75 cents a mile.

Spending 19 hours flying is not the most fun thing in the universe.

I could ask you to pledge to support me for a certain number of miles, but I want you to feel a part of my adventure. Therefore, I am asking you to pledge to walk a certain number of miles before I leave on July 1, 2014. For every mile you pledge, I’m asking for a 75 cent donation. Finally, I will match every mile with a mile walked myself, from now until I return in May 2015.

Just to give you an idea of what you could pledge, the average person walks 5 miles a day. If you decide to pledge 35 miles a week, that would be $26.25 a week. Only 23 people need to make a pledge to walk 5 miles a day until July 1, 2014 for the goal of $16,273 to be met.

I encourage you to get healthy with me and make a pledge. Send your pledge of miles to me at [email protected]. To make monetary donations, please click on the Support Me! tab on the left. I will be updating my blog with mile pledges. Check out my blog on the first part of the Meals and Miles campaign if you would rather eat than walk. Let’s strap on your running shoes and walk 21,500 miles together!

(Hiking in the mountains counts too!)
