I’ve moved around a lot. Since eighth grade I haven’t lived in one place for more than 3 years. Part of this has to do with my United Methodist family. Once my father became a pastor, our family was signing up for a life of constant movement. The very first missionaries in the colonies that would later develop into Methodists would have a circuit of churches. They would ride from church to church every week, bringing the word. In the present, this looks a little different. Pastors are placed into churches for only a short amount of time, on average about 5 years. This experience plus my constant college changing has created a life of moving boxes and secondhand furniture.
I wouldn’t at all say I’ve had a bad life because of it. In fact, just recently when I reached the end of year 3 in Dallas, I realized I was restless and ready to move on. I just moved down the highway to Fort Worth, but I needed a change of scenery. I’ve started to take for granted that I can move anywhere and create a life for myself.
In the afternoons, we’ve been walking up the street to a small private orphanage to teach the kids English as well as a Bible study, but also just to love on them. There’s only 15 kids, so over time, we’ve gotten to know every single one. They run to us, give us hugs, and just want us to be present with them.

We found out last week that this orphanage is going to close soon after we leave Honduras. These kids have been pushed around from home to orphanage to orphanage their entire lives. They still have parents and families, but new husbands didn’t want them or mothers couldn’t feed them. Some have even been abused in past orphanages. Together, they have been a family for a couple of years, and this is devastating news for them.
Team 3D is now seeking to raise enough money to keep this orphanage open. Please visit this website: https://www.tilt.com/campaigns/childrens-villages-of-honduras, where you can watch a video about the orphanage and learn how to donate. Please share this with as many people as possible. We are asking for help in getting the word out just as much as we look for money. Thank you so much for the support you’ve given me!
