Here is a little bit of what we’ve been doing in the Dominican Republic and what’s been going on:

Its month one/ 1st week

By the time we get home from construction we look like we’ve just arose from the dead and we’ve been chillen in the grave for about a century.

I’m literally covered in mud and cow manure from head to toe

We get home have to hose down and take a bucket shower…I actually like them better than real showers.
Don’t ask, I have no idea why.

We wash our clothes BY HAND it takes about an hour and then were off to our next ministry to visit the locals and pray for them.

I love the people. They’re full of joy.

Okay, it’s not like America. People can actually load up in the back of the truck and hold on for dear life while driving down a not so paved road( to say the least) and that’s what we did. We loaded about 40 people into a small truck and while driving back from visiting locals we got poured on for 40 minutes straight (three days in a row)

It’s hilarious!

I’ve never felt so free hanging off the back of the truck wind blowing through my hair the mountains surrounding me and Gods presence all around us. Believe it or not when the rain comes it’s like an adrenaline rush

I LOVE IT!

But I did get my elbow shut in the door the other day that wasn’t that fun.

sooooo cockroaches seem to like my team.

My teammate Karen is getting ready to fall asleep. She stretched out her arms, goes to turn on her side and out of the corner of her eye she catches a cock roach scurrying across her bed.

A few minutes later another appears on shyannes shirt and that shirt gets whipped in my face. I screamed and woke up all the girls in the room.

The next morning I’m cuddled up in my sleeping bag on a bed of springs. I roll over to find a cockroach accompanying me in my sleep and I immediately jump up and scream bloody murder. I woke up the whole house. Oooppps!

While I’m being attacked Karen is peacefully peeing in the bathroom and while peeing she looks over to find a pretty little cockroach crawling up her arm.

I’ve gotten to the point where I pray over our beds every night. I’m being serious. I’m not trying to wake up to a cockroach staring at me again.

Yesterday we held VBS for the kids. I love the kids so much. I don’t know what it is but when I’m with little kids it’s like I’m with Jesus.

I see Jesus in each and every one of them, their smiles and beautiful eyes, how they glow.
I’m being totally serious when I say it’s like looking right into the eyes of God… sounds funny but true.
How they walk and talk such purity and innocence.
I feel a huge calling to love on them.

Please continue to pray for us…we have two more weeks in the DR and then we are off to Haiti.

Hope everyone is doing well. Praying for you all!
