One night during squad worship as I was praying, I kept thinking of God as a beautiful artist. And we are His masterpieces.

I started out my college career as a painting and drawing major. I had never painted before and I remembered my painting professor always telling me you had to push through the ugly. That there comes a time in a painting when it doesn't look good and you think it will never be beautiful. Some people can never push through the ugly.

But our God pushes through the ugly. He never gives up on His masterpieces and each and every one of us is His masterpiece. And not only does he push through the ugly, but He rejoices in it. He rejoices because he has already seen the beautiful outcome of the ugly.

During the ugly times in our lives he is working on His masterpiece. He is preparing His beautiful masterpiece with each brush stroke. Each stroke He adds beauty and covers the ugly.

So I challenge you to let God paint your masterpiece, because He'll never give up during the ugly. He will push through!

"God is our refuge and strength,
       an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though it's waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging."
Psalm 46:1-3
