Would you rather live in a world where you could never love someone else? Or a world where you would never be loved?

Think about it, think about it hard. Fortunately very few ever have to live without one or the other, but I ask because I want you to keep it in perspective.

Ask my mother, and I'd bet she'd tell you should would never be able to live a day without loving her children, regardless of how we treat her. (love you mom!)

Jesus commanded us to love others…not to receive love.
(ok, don't get me started on the which one came first chicken/egg conversation…I know we love because God loved us first…I'm talking about you and me)

Think of the best love songs, the powerful, inspiring, might even make you tear, kind…they're all written about someone's love for someone else, not how beautiful it is to be loved by someone (ok, so Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me" is now playing my head…but…you get the point).

**Disclaimer: I think being loved is necessary, and healthy: if you haven't read my home page yet, do it. It will, hopefully, remind how much you are loved

A couple months ago, I was asked a simple question:

What do you want?

Why does that question have to be so complicated? Answer it for me. Right now. Tell me, go ahead, write me in the contact up on the left. Or at least tell someone. But spare your heart the restrictions: don't simplify it, don't let past hurts hamper it, don't answer the Godly way, or the rational way…answer with your heart, no holds barred.

My answer to the question: was to love some one again, the way I had when I was in love. I may have loved with such fervor because I was young naive…maybe even reckless…but it was beautiful to see what the heart was capable of.
I tell you this because it was unrequited, and more than I wanted him to love me, I want to love that way again.
I tell you this because of why I'm doing the race: I want to love people. And I may not always be loved back.

And I'm ok with that.

Why did Jesus die for me?  Because He loved me (and you too!) (He knew full well how few of us would love Him back)

Why did William Wallace go to war? (Murron was dead, he couldn't get love back from her)

Why did Hawkeye chase after danger? (Cora dies at the end)

Why did Menelaus start the Trojan war? (did Helen ever really love him)

Better yet, why do missionaries risk their lives and  1st world comfort comfort?

Because LOVE DOES THINGS
It motivates. It inspires. It heals.

That's "The Power of Love"
…thanks again Celine (ok, I'm not much a fan, she went out like the Titanic…but she's on my mind)

So I enocourage 2 things:
1. Figure out what you want. Then
GO DO IT!  …follow your heart.
"You're heart is free, have the courage to follow it."  (I had to reference Braveheart again to redeem my Celine references)

2. Celebrate your love for others today. It's a beautiful thing. Don't worry about who is giving back, but appreciate the ability to love….
