In a few weeks I will be taking off on a journey into the wilderness of Utah and I wanted to write this blog to share some of my heart behind why I do this……..
“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as obeying the voice of the lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better then the fat of rams.”
Saul was the anointed king of Israel, but he earned disfavor with the Lord when he decided to save some animals that he was instructed to kill. And he saved them for the very purpose of offering them to the Lord. I ask myself how many times I’ve done things with the intent of trying to please the Lord, but only ended up offering up displeasing sacrifices to Him. I don’t think it’s my responsibility to build God’s kingdom for him, it’s my responsibility to allow it to be built inside of me. This is my passion behind most of what I’ve done, the last few years. In a few weeks I’m going to be helping lead a group of twelve men and women into to wilderness of Utah to seek the heart of our heavenly Father. Jesus said that he never did or said anything that he did not hear first from his father. There is a call on all of our lives to have intimacy with the God who has created us. And it is out of the overflow of this place that I believe God is building his kingdom.
Journey into the deep is a wilderness discipleship journey where we will be cut off from the distractions of our culture. We will be spending time in the quiet place where people can learn to focus on eternal things, hear the voice of the Lord for themselves. We will be in the canyon lands of Utah for forty days hiking by day, and sleeping under the stars at night. It will be challenging both spiritually and physically. We will probably be hiking over two hundred miles and living on bare minimum of gear and rations. As our bodies are physically challenged, we will be seeking the heart of our heavenly father.
This Journey begins on the twenty fourth of June. Please pray that we would be able to posture ourselves to receive. Pray that the Lord would prepare our hearts. Pray that our bodies will hold up. And pray that the kingdom of God would be advanced in us
