This is our last stop before heading to South America and the 4 months in Africa have gone by way too fast. Malawi has been such an amazing place and the ministry we did here was so much fun!

Throughout the weeks here we had several different ministries we went to. First, we went to a place called Chisomo Children’s Home. This was so much fun. We got to go and hang out with the children, play soccer, teach bible stories, sing so many songs, and play lots of fun games (mostly soccer). The home was for children who didn’t have good family lives, had been living on the streets, or had been arrested. It was a safe place for them to go and a place for them to learn. We loved going and hanging out with the kids so much! The kids LOVED playing soccer and lets just say after 2 months I could probably be an olympic soccer player (ok ok maybe not that good).  It was such a cool ministry and the people running the home were so amazing!

The second ministry we did, was working at a crisis nursery. The crisis nursery we helped at is kind of like an orphanage for babies. They take babies anywhere from newborn to 2 years old. If a baby is put in danger by it’s family or is left somewhere, they can be taken to this nursery. We would sit in the play room and the aunties would bring out the babies and we would hold them and play with them for hours. During our time there, a set of newborn twins was taken in after their mother had been feeding them coca cola. They were so tiny and so sweet, we got to watch them grow and get healthy and it was so cool. There were babies there who were newborn/preemie all the way up to 2 years old. This ministry was really cool, but also really sad to see so many babies without families.

The last ministry we did in Malawi, was soccer ministry. I literally spent a majority of my time in Malawi playing soccer between this ministry and Chisomo Children’s Home, but I loved it. For this ministry we would drive out to a village and there was a soccer team that one of the pastor’s coached. They were all boys between the ages of 10 and 17. At first it was kind of weird because there were 6 girls who didn’t know much about soccer trying to play with this team. After the first week we all warmed up to each other and it was really fun. They were able to laugh at us because we had no idea what we were doing.

We would rotate between these 3 ministries during the week and it was so cool to get to do so many different things and meet so many people. I will definitely miss Africa and the amazing people here.
