I have been criticized over and over by family and friends for the faith that I have placed in George W. Bush.  No, he is not perfect and no I do not agree with every decision he has made.  Likewise, I do not agree with every decision formed from my own thoughts and evaluation.  We are not perfect.  We will always fail.  I do, however believe this war is bigger than us.  It is even bigger than President Bush and he deals with it the best way he knows how.  Someone told me the other day, “President Bush is not what I want a Christian to be.”  Well I was at VT today, and President Bush is exactly what I want a Christian to be.  I saw the horror on his face.  I saw the pain in his eyes.  I saw and heard the care in his words.  President Bush is not up for reelection in the fall…..he could have addressed the nation from the White House and left it at that.  He chose to come.  He chose to speak.  He chose to quote Scripture.  He chose to fellowship with the VT community and for that I am thankful.  I am thankful that he is our president.  I am confident that he is who God has appointed as a leader for us.

Romans 13:1-2, TLB. “Obey the government, for God is the one who has put it there. There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. So those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow.”

Philipians 1:6  “And I am confident in this one thing.  He who began a good work in you will not finish it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

I believe God has began a good work in ALL who claim HIM as their SAVIOUR.  President Bush openly claims Christ.  I am not going to be caught questioning GOD’s power and what HE can and will do through one of HIS children.  I hate war just as much as the next person.  I also have peace that God allows, not causes, allows things to happen and as a result HE is glorified.  Our finite minds long for finite answers, but my GOD is INFINITE.  In POWER, in LOVE, in JUSTICE, in PRESENCE is he INFINITE.  Our finite minds cannot comprehend or understand a POWER of this kind.  For this reason, we must keep the faith.  Faith that Christ died on the Cross as a Sacrifice for our sins.  Faith in a loving God who gave this Christ, His only Son, to us.  Faith that because we have accepted Him, we now have His promise who is the Holy Spirit and from this person of the Godhead a peace surpassing all understanding.
