What are you most excited about for this trip?
I remember this question being asked on our U squad group page a while back and I didn’t have a clear answer, but now I think I do. I am most excited about change. Change of routine, going to work during the day, watching tv at night, church on Sundays, thinking about change and not acting on it, going through the motions. Change of people, being surrounded by men and women of faith that desire the same essential thing of glorifying God. Change of scenery, 11 extremely different countries from the plains of Ohio. Change of culture, different foods, music, personalities, rituals, ways of living. Change of my perceived reputation, I will have no past expectations or judgements, I will be able to create a new, authentic reputation with the community around me. Change in daily life, I am excited to change my daily life and desires. Having time and no material distractions to take away from prayer and time in scripture. Change of diet, not sure how my body will react but I am excited to try new and very different foods.
I am excited in the change God is going to bring in my life. The things I will experience will change my life in ways I can’t imagine now, but am ready and preparing for. I want to be in tune with God’s community and his will for my life.
How’s preparation going?
Fundraising has been going slow. Since I hit $1,700 a month or so ago, funds have been very slow. With help from family I have a couple fundraisers I am planning. One fundraiser is a spirit night at Chick-fil-A, I am praying that I can connect with my church to make our congregation aware of this so they can participate. On the plus side, I have 90% of my gear and have been testing it out regularly. I am also selling some of my material possessions that have been hindering my spirit. I am selling my TV, PS3, Guitar, Computer, and Pistol. I will get a laptop before I leave, but for now I want this distraction gone.
