I can’t believe it! This is real life. I’m going on the World Race next year. Me, the girl who hates commitment, has actually committed to something that’s longer than 3 months…

But that’s the joy in the gospel! Jesus did the impossible when he healed the sick, turned water into wine, made the blind see, and all sorts of signs and wonders. And he did it all by living a perfect life—fully human yet fully God. He never thought one bad thought, never gave into temptation, never committed a single sin. And on top of that, he chose to die for you and for me and for the entire world because he loves us so much; a love that we will never be able to fully understand. Not only that, but Jesus literally defeated death by resurrecting from the dead after three days. The story of Jesus is truly the best love story that exists on this earth; Jesus loves us so much that we are all given an open invitation to live forever in heaven with Him when we die. It’s just a matter of choosing whether or not we want to follow Him.

Making the decision to follow Jesus was the best decision that I have ever made. If you don’t already know this, God roots himself inside the hearts of all Christians through this cool thing called the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit, we are able to do the impossible. We are able to have joy in the midst of suffering; to love in a way that’s beyond our comprehension; to have a purpose that’s greater than all success. In this world, we so desperately try to fill the gap in our hearts with friendships, a significant other, a job, money, success, drinking, drugs….basically everything. And the reason that we never feel satisfied is because Jesus is the only thing that can fill that void. And that’s why I’m going on the World Race: to share with people a love and a hope that only Jesus can offer them.

God has given me a desire to see the world, to reach the unreached, and to live life on a mission of advancing His kingdom. 11 countries, 11 months. The World Race is going to be uncomfortable, challenging, and exhausting as I move from country to country, living out of a backpack, and seeing things that I’ve never seen before. But it’s also going to be the experience of a lifetime, and I’m so excited to see how God uses me and grows me throughout this whole journey.

God, I choose You.
