Okay so it’s been a crazy past few weeks! The past 2 days, our team did a Beauty for Ashes retreat with the women that we work with here at Samaritan Creations. It was an amazing time of empowering them and letting them know that their stories have SO MUCH value!!!
Meanwhile, I made a day in the life video to better explain what I’m doing here in Thailand! Check it out 😀
Long story short, this month has been a very “full-time job” type of month where we are working from 8am to 4pm doing more businessey type work. We also have an hour commute each way…so I’ve really been learning what it looks like to press in to the “mundane” moments!! I’ve learned how I best tune in with The Lord and I’ve been able to press into that! For me, worship is my love language with God, so every morning, I have to tune out my teammates, put my headphones in, listen to worship music, and pray on the bumpy commute to ministry.
I’m also an external processor, which is hard on a loud, crazy commute to work where I’m standing up half of the time. I can’t really pull out my journal and Bible and have a comfortable quiet time…so most days, I’ll pray externally via a note in my phone. I have so many notes in my phone of all of the random things that God places on my heart during the day. And some days, when there’s down time in the coffee shop, I’ll get to sit for 30 minutes or so and read my Bible.
Soo yeah, it’s definitely been a change coming from Nepal where we had an hour of uninterrupted time with God to this month where I get sporadic minutes at a time alone with The Lord. But it’s been super cool to learn what it looks like to press into every moment. Often times, it’s choosing between scrolling Instagram for 5 minutes or reading a Psalm. And I’ve definitely chosen both, but I can see a difference in my day when I choose to ponder a Psalm versus look at other people’s lives on Instagram.
I just want to encourage any of you out there in full-time jobs to seek out those moments with the Lord! Even if its praying during your 5 minute bathroom break or reading a Psalm on the way to work, it really makes a difference!! Press in!!! It doesn’t have to be this hour long quiet time where you read 5 chapters of the Bible. Like yes, that’s amazing if you have that much time, but it’s not always reality. Know how you best connect with The Lord and press into that! Some examples of ways to connect with The Lord: worship, prayer, journaling, prayer language, external processing, reading the Bible.
In other news, going to da beach this weekend! Excited to have a weekend to relax, refresh, and process everything that The Lord has been doing this month! And see my friends on other teams 🙂
TTYL!!
