Adventures in Missions has been emphasizing the importance of blogging since we signed up for the race, but I didn’t realize how important it really was until this past week when they added a new member of our squad (shout out to Dani for being the greatest SCM). Dani is pioneering a new position for The World Race called Squad Content Manager. This position has been added to help us share our stories. She is here to help us blog/vlog/share the kingdom stories we are living. With this added position, a new team job has been created that is the Team Content Manager. This person is responsible for communication between the team and the SCM, and for encouraging the team to blog! We signed a contract at the beginning of the race to blog once a week, but the new goal is to blog twice a week.
The exciting thing about blogging twice a week is that we as a squad have just over 3,000 blog subscribers – so when we send out two blogs a week that is 6000 kingdom stories being emailed around the world! What a simple way to share the kingdom stories we are living. A lot of the squad is anxious about the new goal that doubled our ‘required’ blog posts. However, we have had a lot of discussion about how a photo of what we are doing, and a short caption can be used to bring glory to the kingdom work being done. So, this blog is more being used to inform my supporters that not all blog posts will be the expected 500 essay with a beautiful photo. Some blogs may be to simply update where we are, what the country looks like, what ministry looks like, and other blogs will be what the spirit is doing. Some blogs may mimic that of an Instagram post – in fact they may be my Instagram post!
Another helpful aspect of the SCM is that Dani can post for us! If we are in a month with slim to no wifi the TCM can email the blogs to Dani and she can sit in coffee shops staring at upload screens for us! The issue with this is that sending photos over wifi is challenging, so there will be more blogs without photos! This also means that if there is a blog posted that does not mean I am easily accessible (sorry Mom). It is exciting to know that we have a tool to help us overcome the ever-present challenge of sucky wifi! So get excited because if you subscribe to this blog (which you totally should click subscribe and enter your email if you don’t) or any other blog from my squad you will hear 2 kingdom stories a week!
p.s. if you feel lead to donate, my final deadline of $17,017 is fast approaching ??
